Pakistani government and the private sector are now desperately trying to make the country a success story in IT field. Neighboring India has achieved it and India is a developing country just like Pakistan. Pakistani government has taken a number of positive steps to promote the IT sector and attract foreign investment. As a result, Pakistan can now boast of a much better teledensity than India. However, there is still a long way to go for Pakistan to match the Indian success. Here are 5 things that Pakistan should do:
- Pakistan should allocate more funds for science education and research. It will encourage more students to study science and engineering.
- Pakistan needs to promote its IT sector in selected countries like US, UK, Canada etc from which it aims to get projects. Unfortunately, Pakistan often comes to media headlines not for its economy but for its political violence.
- Pakistan should try to attract Pakistanis living in develop countries to get involved with its IT sector. NRIs (non resident Indians) contributed a lot behind Indian success.
- Pakistan should aggressively build several technology parks and ensure world class facilities.
- Pakistan should hire foreign IT academicians and professionals to come to Pakistan and provide training to Pakistani IT professionals and gradates.
Do you have any other idea?

With the things you pointed out, it seems they really have a long way to go, but not impossible.
