Andaman islands are perhaps among the most beautiful islands in Asia. Until now, Indian government did not realize the potential of the islands fully. Now, Indian decision makers are keen to make the most out of Andaman. So, new islands will be soon opened to the tourists and India will develop infrastructure. I am quoting from a report of Forbes.com:
“India is to open 15 islands in the remote Andaman archipelago in a bid to develop tourism, officials said.
A total of 50 new sites will be developed in the northern cluster of islands, 1,200 kilometres off mainland India, they said.
'These sites have been selected so that environmentally-sensitive hotels and beach resorts can be set up under our tourism plan,' Andaman's Tourism chief Dharam Pal said here.
Only 36 of the more than 500 islands in the archipelago, closer to Indonesia than India, are inhabited. Others have sensitive Indian naval and airforce bases.”
These islands have huge potential to become the most attractive tourist destinations in India. They are still largely unexplored and that is why, many tourists will like to come here. My suggestion to the Indian government is to allow foreign investment here so that these islands can become world class tourist destinations. Andaman has a very rich history too.
