RING! RING! SANTA CLAUS IS Coming India to do Business

Yes readers! Before reading this report, I did not know that real Santa Claus lives in the Lapland region of Finland. People believe that he is the real Santa, who is more than four hundred years old. Santa Claus will come to India in November to promote the flight service of Finnair.

In Finland, Santa Claus is a major attraction for tourists and it is a great means to build public relations. The Santa Claus has his own post office and receives 11 million letters (can you believe it!!!) from believers all around the world, including India. He visited India before. After coming to India, Santa Claus will visit to children’s school and hospital.

Finnair, the flag carrier of Finland is going to start its new flight schedule between Helsinki and New Delhi. At present, it will have three non-stop flights a week. By 2007, it is planning to increase that number to five flights a week. The flight service will start from October 30.

Finnair is more than eighty years old. After 9/11, the company shifted its operations from North America to Asia. At present, more than forty percent of its business is related with Asia. The career operates hundred flights to China and recently it has started flight to Japan. Next year, the company is planning to extend its flight service in Kualampur. The Finnish Government has 58.4 percent holding in Finnair, one of the oldest operating airlines. Established in 1923, the head quarter of the company is based in Vantaa, Finland. Last year, it carried 8.5 million passengers worldwide.

It is not the first time that some one very popular is doing promotional campaign for a company. In India, many famous Bollywood actors and actresses become brand ambassadors for various products. I am feeling happy that Finnair has chosen a personality like Santa Claus who has a worldwide appeal. Presently, India does not have any serious trade relationship with Finland. Finnish companies like Nokia, Elcoteq and Kone have their branch in India. On the other hand, Wipro and Sasken Tech, two of the major Indian firms, are looking forward to start their business in Finland. I am hopeful that this flight service will help to build a good trading relationship between the two countries.
