![]() I cannot remember of any season like this one when dengue fever is spreading across South Asia. India and Sri Lanka had it. Now, Nepal and Pakistan have joined the list of countries where some persons have died from this fever.
Nepal has seen its first death from dengue fever. For Pakistan, the situation is even worse. Dengue fever outbreak in Pakistani city kills 17- the headline of the report from Reuters is enough to describe the situation there.
I am just worried for the tourism sector. The rainy season has finished and it is ideal time to visit South Asia. If dengue continues to spread this way across South Asia then it will bring have disastrous effect on the tourism sector in this region. I am really surprised to see that the governments of these countries are still in a relax mood about dengue fever.

Razib, there seems to be an international pattern to political leaders waiting for things to get REALLY bad before taking action.
Thanks for the timely post. My son-in-law and his mother are now in India. Just one suggestion. You might want to include a link to an article on the disease.
