Bollywood movies are now becoming very popular in USA. In a report published in RxPG News, it is said that Time Warner Cable, one of the leading cable operators in USA, has received requests to show Hindi movies from one million customers under its International Movies on Demand Service. Bollywood movies are the second most requested program. I am quoting from the report:
"Bollywood films have emerged as the second most requested genre by one million digital customers of a leading American channel's International Movies On Demand - service.
'Due to the success of this campaign, we wanted to expand our international offerings. We launched IMOD earlier this year,' said Suzanne Giuliani, director, public relations, Time Warner Cable of New York and New Jersey, of its team-up with BODVOD.
'We don't disclose financials but we feel it has been a successful partnership,' she said in an email interview to IANS about her company's partnership with BODVOD, the first US video on demand - service offering Bollywood and South Asian content through 30 distribution partners including Time Warner."
Along with India, Bollywood films are very popular in Pakistan, Middle East, Bangladesh, Nepal and few other countries. In USA, there are people from these countries who watch Hindi movies. The commercial movies of Bollywood are very well made. Song and dance are the most important items. Aside from dance numbers, now, the movie makers are using special effects and action sequences similar to western movies. I am very hopeful that in near future, USA will be another big market for Bollywood movies.
