Till now, the big companies used Bollywood film actors and actresses to endorse their products. Now, the movies are being used for product endorsement. Recently, the Skoda car company has launched their new car Audi A6 on the day of the release of "Babul". Tag Heur, the famous Swiss watch company introduced their new watches with Shahrukh Khan's latest movie "Don."

Using movies to endorse products is not very popular in Bollywood but it has been used as a promoting strategy for a long time in Hollywood. In the 60's the Smirnoff Vodka was endorsed by the Bond Movie "Dr. No." Like Hollywood, Bollywood film industry has large number of viewers but it is not as popular as Hollywood and the idea of promoting products through movies did not have much success here. In the 80's Anil Kapoor's "Mr. India" was a big hit but the product associated with the movie was not very successful. I do not know what are the major reasons behind such failures but I can tell you that a revival is taking place now in this field. Recently, Hrithik Roshan's movie "Krrish" endorsed toy products for children and the project was successful. Pepe jeans will launch new Jeans and T-shirt after the release of Hrithik Roshan's latest movie "Dhoom:2".
Indian film industry is the second largest in the world and because of its huge population, India has turned into a very attractive market. If any manufacturing company is planning to introduce their products, then I think Bollywood movies would be an intelligent choice for them.
